Masonry Institute of Iowa Architectural Design Awards
For the 12th consecutive year, the Masonry Institute of Iowa has selected Iowa’s best buildings and the people who built them to receive Architectural Design Awards. Twenty-three entries were submitted this year.
The 2007 Grand Prize went to Neumann Monson, P.C., in Iowa City for renovation work on the University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium. The three-judge panel of architects from the Chicago area was impressed with the design, work, and dramatic change that the improvements gave to the stadium’s image. The Institute also honored the two mason contractors involved in the project, Seedorff Masonry from Strawberry Point, and Yoder Masonry from Riverside, with the Golden Trowel Award.
The Architectural Design Awards are given annually by the Masonry Institute of Iowa and are open to all sizes and categories of Iowa projects in which the dominant building materials are masonry. Only Iowa-licensed architects who are AIA-IA members may submit projects.
